Ellen Kraig, PhD, professor in the Department of Cell Systems and Anatomy in the Joe R. and Teresea Lozano Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio), has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Association of Immunologists (AAI).
The AAI Distinguished Fellow designation recognizes members with 25 or more years of membership who have demonstrated excellence in immunology research, leadership across academia or other sectors at the national or international level and notable distinction as educators.
The achievement is one of the highest honors in the organization. Kraig is one of just 22 scientists nationwide selected for the 2026 class.
The recognition celebrates Kraig’s career achievements as well as her longtime service to the organization. A member of AAI since 1984, she was honored for her distinguished career, outstanding scientific contributions and sustained service to both AAI and the broader immunology community.
Kraig’s selection not only demonstrates her impact on the field of immunology but also highlights UT San Antonio’s continued commitment to advancing biomedical science through leadership, discovery and education.
